Brooklyn's Community Board 6

My work is more than my job

CB 6: Brooklyn's Community Board 6 is famously one of the most active boards in Brooklyn, and indeed New York City. A resident can count on CB 6 to step up on any local issue, from sanitation to sewage to safety to city planning to ... well, anything, whether it's sibilant or not.

They have Committees on various topics, mostly populated by members of the CB 6 Board; but appointed volunteers hold a minority of seats on each committee. I've volunteered for 1 to 3 committees each year over a number of years, though I never stepped up to be a board member. At various times I've sat on the Public Safety Committee, the Human Services/Homeless Advisory Committee, the Housing/Environmental Committee, and the Youth and Education Committee.

I supervised BSW students here, as already described if the "Social Work" section.

I've also applied in my retirement to do this again, now that I'm not driving home from Queens anymore. In the coming year, I've been selected to serve on the Public Safety/Environmental Protection/Permits/Licenses Committee, and also on the Youth/Human Services/Education Committee.
